Presidency threatens to sue lawyer over certificate claims

Abuja - The Presidency earlier today threatened to take legal action against a lawyer, Nnamdi Nwokocha over his continued public comments, saying that President Muhammadu Buhari lacked to required requirements to run for the presidency, Punch reports.

The Presidency warned Nwokocha that if he failed to stop abusing his right to free speech, it would be taking further action against his continuous defaming comments on President Buhari.Nwokocha had in February 2015 filed a suit challenging the competence of Buhari to stand election into the office of President of Nigeria when he lacks the basic educational qualifications set out in the Constitution.

The Presidency further warned Nwokocha that his comments were affecting the president's image and that his comments are highly likely to sway people who could already find the President guilty by public opinion, even before a court ruling is made.
