Clintinfo - 150bn Adulterated food items destroyed in Kano

The Kano State Government on Thursday destroyed adulterated and expired food items worth over N10 million.
Speaking at the occasion, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, said that the items were seized by the Consumers Protection Council at Singa Market.
The governor described the seized goods as an “eye sore’’ especially at this period of the Ramadan.
He said that the state government during a stakeholders meeting resolved that Kano should not be allowed to be the centre of illicit drugs.
The governor urged groups and individuals in the state to support government’s efforts in fighting drug abuse to ensure a decent society.Ganduje said that the government would ensure the prosecution of anybody found with adulterated and expired beverages and called on marketers to complement government efforts.
On his part, the state Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Rabi’u Bako, told the governor that the adulterated food items were circulated in markets in the state capital.
The chairman of the market, Alhaji Muhammadu Yakasai, called on the government to take appropriate measures that would ensure the prosecution of those found with such items.
