Rashford saves the day for Manchester united

Marcus Rashford scored deep into stoppage time as Manchester United finally broke down resilient Hull City to open the Premier League season with three wins from three.

The game appeared headed for a draw before Wayne Rooney crossed to substitute Rashford to steal all three points in the 92nd minute.

The hosts had a chance to take the lead midway though the first half when Andrew Robertson's cross nearly found Robert Snodgrass at the back post, but Luke Shaw was able to disrupt the play.

Snodgrass slid into the woodwork following the play, and though he tried to carry on the forward eventually had to come off with an apparent injury early in the second half.

The travelling United fans thought they had the lead just before the break as Zlatan Ibrahimovic redirected Rooney's free kick into the side netting, and the Swede was offside anyway.United had a penalty shout waved away on 77 minutes when the ball struck David Meyler's elbow, and two more chances at goal soon followed.

First, Hull keeper Eldin Jakupovic did well to palm away Rashford's shot, and moments later Paul Pogba's shot nearly deflected into the net but fell wide of the post.

There was more good defending as Curtis Davies blocked Henrikh Mkhitaryan's shot, and with two minutes to play Pogba sent a curling effort inches past the right post.

Meyler blasted a shot over the bar for Hull in stoppage time to momentarily scare United, but the visitors came back down the pitch to find the winner.

Rooney eluded a lacklustre Ahmed Elmohamady challenge on the touchline and sent a low ball for Rashford to fire home.
