The body of the son of country music star Craig Morgan was recovered Monday, wildlife officials in Tennessee said.Jerry Greer, 19, had been missing following a boating accident over the weekend in Kentucky Lake.
Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Rod Edwards told local media that the search for Greer’s body began around 4 p.m. Sunday near a marina. Edwards said two teenagers were tubing when they had an accident and one teen didn’t surface. Both were wearing life jackets.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said crews worked throughout the night and about 50 other boats joined the search, according to The Tennessean. Authorities said crews were using an underwater vehicle to scan a search on the river where the water is up to 15 feet deep at points.
Davis said he wasn’t certain what could’ve caused the accident.
"It's an unfortunate situation. We're going to keep working. We're going to pour our hearts and efforts out for the family,” he added.
Greer had recently graduated from Dickson County High School and was very close to his father Craig Morgan – an Army veteran who has had several hit songs including “Tough” and “Almost Home” and hosts a show on the Outdoor Channel.
Morgan and his wife Karen have four children together.
"I have a wonderful family," Morgan told FOX411 Country in 2015. "My wife is great and supportive, making sure that I'm doing the things I need to be doing at home and that I need to be doing out on the road."
A candlelight vigil had been planned for Monday night, but was canceled out of respect for the family.
